EDITORIAL TRIBAL. . . .

I feel out of my 2 final shoots, I enjoyed this one the most and I am so happy with the end results. I think out of my final images for both my shoots, I feel as if my body shot image for my Editorial shoot is my strongest image. As it clearly shows all key aspects of the image, the makeup, the hair styling and the scarification effect down the arms and contoured chest. As a whole I think this is my strongest piece. Overall, I have really enjoyed this project and these shoots, and I have loved doing a blog, much better than sketchbooks. Whether our new project is to be done on a blog or not, I think I might create my own personal blog to record my love for make-up, fashion and tattoos, and log my thoughts on the way. Enjoy xx

CATWALK TRIBAL. . .

Well here they are, my final 2 images from my Catwalk Tribal look and I couldn't be happier !! I am so pleased and proud of myself how the came out, I feel I really captured the bone structure perfectly as this is something I focused on and with the simplicity of a pair of earrings, I could image this look walking down a runway. YAYY!

My model for my editorial tribal shoot, Emma Marks, is a photography student and for her current project at the time she had to document her time in Southampton, so during the preparation of the shoot she took these images, I didn't even know she took them but I love them!! I think there a lovely touch and thought these would look nice as a little extra something on my blog :)

Final Designs. . .

Final Designs - (Editorial Left, Catwalk Right)

These are 2 of  of the final designs which I practiced and developed. I originally thought that these would be perfect for my final shoots but I feel, with the colors and my previous research, they didn't match right so I developed my ideas now to end with the final  designs. That's the think I love about face charts is that you aren't restricted to how many you can do, once I have sit down and settled and started designing, once my mind starts rolling, I could easily produce many designs, one after another. I developed these ideas but some of my face charts I feel just started drifting away from what I was aiming to create.

As well as make-up, these are the final designs for the hair, both for my catwalk and editorial shoots. I had a clear idea in my head what I wanted the hair to look like in my shoots as I had thought of would of worked with the makeup looks. Especially when it came to the catwalk design, I knew I wanted the hair off the face as I have to picture my model walking down the catwalk so I feel to show off the fashion and what the model is wearing, the hair should be off the face to get the full advantage and keep the focal point on the fashion.

My final face charts show the finished designs for the makeup of both my editorial and catwalk shoots. The image of my catwalk face chart on the left has faded a bit from taking a picture of it but you get the gist. I think my designs have come a long way from my first initial secondary research! Now that all my designs are done I can not wait for my final shoots now to put these designs to good use and hopefully create an overall, decent look. I am feeling quite confident!

Mood Boards....

Mood Board - Catwalk

With a catwalk shoot, although the final image was produced in a studio and my model was sitting down, you have to image the look you have created can move swiftly down a catwalk with no complications. Baring in mind, with catwalk shows, it is to show of the fashion as this i normally the focus but with this project we have to picture our hair and makeup looks are the focal point. With this mood board, it shows how I aim to create the hair, tied back tightly off the face and a straightened pony tail, keeping it simple but very effective to keep the focus on the make-up. As with the makeup, I shall be doing a scarification effect process, that's why I have images of scarification on the face. With my model being mixed raced, the image on the top left shows how I aim to have the contouring quite dark, to really define the cheekbones as these are the main aspect of the makeup and to give the overall image quite a masculine feel.

When reflecting back to this mood board after I have done the final shoot, I feel like this is a good representation of what I was aiming to create. Whereas with a mood board you focus on the main features of the image, I feel like all of the aspects of this mood board shows that. 

Mood Board - Editorial

This is my mood board for my editorial look, where I have focused on contouring the skin, including the chest and collar bones. Scarification on the skin as this is something which I have developed in my catwalk look and also I have researched this throughout my project. Also due to the fact I love this hairstyle, and my model has half her head shaved, I think this is a good aspect to my final shoot because many of the woman have very little/no hair at all.

For this project, unlike previously where we have done our work in sketchbooks and created our own mood boards by hand, this time around our project is all digitally, which includes the storyboards and mood boards. We were only required to do one story board for the over all project and this is what I produced. At the time when I did this I was quite unsure as to what we were actually meant to include so through these images, I feel that this gives a decent idea of what I am aiming to create, due to the accessories  the focus on pattern/tribal designs and color. Also with the'up' hair-dos as both of my models for my separate shoots will have their hair up.

The Alternative Hair Show 2012

Due to my ex-boyfriend, I have become quite well educated about The Alternative Hair Show as he is part of the Galvin dynasty and with his grandfather being the infamous Joshua Galvin, he has helped me with researching different hair stylists for my project. With Sam also attending this year’s Alternative Hair Show, he gave me a clear insight and explained what each artist did and created for their part of the show. From the images Sam showed me, I was blown away with how breath-taking the overall images were and mind boggled to think that it was all hair, some shapes and heights which I had never seen before. 

These 2 styles from this year’s show particularly inspired me as I feel they had elements which I had looked into also, such as braids and plaits. From the workshop with Seema, the wig artist, it made me have a different outlook on the finished products as I now know how to create such extravagant pieces so takes away part of the wow-factor. Especially with the bottom image, this has made me think more of the concept and the structure of my hair design, as with the 3 tight plaits falling over the face, this makes the hair the main statement of the look. From this I shall design different looks where the hair/plaits are the main aspect of the overall look, inspired by the Alternative Hair Show.
